A new potable water well was recently drilled in the community of Culvert City, Region Nine (Upper Takutu/Upper Essequibo). Over 1200 residents within the community and those residing in the township of Lethem, will benefit from the initiative, says the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI).

GWI is currently working to interconnect this new well to the existing water supply system in the community. The new well was drilled by the company’s in-house team of Engineers and Technicians.

GWI’s Chief Executive Officer, Shaik Baksh, expressed his satisfaction that this new well was drilled within a period of five days to a depth of 80 meters. This, he said, shows that the company is building its in-house drilling capacity.

The introduction of the well, GWI says, is in keeping with the Government’s commitment to provide safe and adequate water for all.
