A motorcyclist was struck down along the Number 5 Public Road, West Coast Berbice, on Saturday.

Dead is 35-year-old Thoussant Job, a carpenter of Number 22 village, West Coast Berbice. The accident occurred at about 18:00hrs.

Investigations revealed that motorcar PZZ 415, which was driven by a 28-year-old man of Plantation Brahn WCB, made a U-turn from north to south and into Joe’s path.

As a result of the impact, Joe fell onto the parapet and sustained injuries about his body.

He was picked up in an unconscious condition and was taken to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor, who pronounced him dead.

A breathalyzer test was conducted on the motor car driver, but no trace of alcohol was detected.

The motor cycle was lodged at Fort Wellington Police Station to be examined by the licensing and certifying officer, while the driver of the motor car is in custody pending investigations.
