A 40-year-old porter is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after the truck he was in turned turtle on Saturday.

The victim has been identified as Odit Narine Persaud of Essequibo. The incident occurred at about 13:30 hrs on the Toraturu Trail, Mazaruni, Region 7.

Reports are that the truck, which was driven by a 30-year-old male of Bartica, Essequibo River, was descending a hill when he allegedly lost control of the lorry.

As a result, Narine was pinned under the truck and received injuries to his body. He was picked up in a conscious state by public-spirited citizens and transported to GPHC.
