Leroy Jones was today remanded to prison over the murder of Osafo Pollard, a taxi driver who was gunned down last Tuesday at La Penitence.

The 24-year-old labourer appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where he was read the charged which states that on February 2, 2021, at North East La Penitence, Georgetown, he murdered Osafa Pollard.
He was not required to plead to the capital offense, hence he was remanded until March 2.

Enquiries by the police disclosed that on the date mentioned, a loud explosion similar to gunshot was first heard followed by persons screaming and running away from the location.

When the dust settled, Pollard was seen lying with a wound to his head.

He was subsequently picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died about 00:20hrs the following day, while receiving treatment.
