23- year-old Tameira Melville today pleaded guilty to trafficking 775 grams of cocaine.

She appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Roschelle Liverpool where she was sentenced to 4 years in jail and fined $798,750.

The woman was nabbed at the Eugene F. Correia International Airport last Saturday after she was acting in a suspicious manner, while being a passenger on a Caribbean airlines flight bounded for Barbados.

Guyana Standard had initially reported that the woman confessed to injesting 75 pellets after being subjected to the physical search at the airport.

Melville subsequently passed out a bulky parcel of suspected cocaine that was wrapped in plastic and condoms.

Just two days later, it was reported that she had excreted a further 25 pellets of drugs.

Guyana Standard was informed that the woman had passed 20 pellets over the weekend, and an additional five on Monday morning.
