One person is now dead and two others injured after the vehicle they were in toppled several times along the Mahdia Access Road, about five kilometres away from the Mabura Police Outpost. The incident occurred today at around 15:00hrs, police say.

According to reports, four persons were in the vehicle, Toyota Tundra, GTT 1936 at the time of the accident. The occupants have been identified as Pretipaul Jaigobin, 54, of Low Lands ECD; Franky Wessel Trotz, a 29-year-old of Meten-Meer-Zorg Ocean Gardens WCD, and 25-year-old Ravie Gayadean of Zeelugt, EBE.

When police arrived at the scene, they met Trotz, who related that the vehicle was heading to Mabura when the driver, Singh, lost control causing it to topple several times before coming to a halt.

Mahdia’s Mayor, David Adams, who was passing at the time, rendered assistance.

Singh, Gayadean and Jaigobin were escorted to Mabura where they were attended to by the medic, who immediately transferred them to the Linden Hospital Complex.

On arrival at Linden, they were seen and examined by a doctor who pronounced Jaigobin dead on arrival.

Singh and Gayadean were admitted and their condition is said to be stable.
