A .32 pistol with magazine and eight live matching rounds fell out of a man’s pants as he was being searched at Water Front, Port Kaituma, North-West District today.

The suspect, a 45-year-old seaman of Enterprise, East Coast Demerara (ECD) is now in police custody.

Enquiries revealed that on the date and time mentioned, one Keith Doris, a labourer of Water Front, Port Kaituma North West District, reported to the Port Kaituma Police Station an allegation of threatening behaviour in which a firearm was used.

A party of police went to the said location and the suspect was identified.

A search was requested and upon consent, carried out on his person. The firearm fell through his left side pants foot.

The suspect admitted to not being the holder of a firearm license. He was then told of the offense committed, cautioned, arrested, and escorted to the Port Kaituma Police Station. The weapon and ammunition were sealed and lodged.
