Twenty-five-year-old, Kevin Lafleur escaped from the Mazaruni Prison today, around 13:15hrs, police say.
Enquires revealed that LaFleur, whose last known address is listed as 84 Providence Housing Scheme East Bank Demerara (EBD), was serving a 56-month sentence for Robbery Under Arms.
The escapee allegedly made a run for his freedom into the bushes aback the prisons.
Prison officers scoured the area but could not locate him.
A Joint Services team has since been deployed to carry out further searches.
Lafleur’s escape comes almost two months after four inmates: Imran Ramsaywack, Kenrick Lyte, Samuel Gouveia and Ryan Jones escaped the prison.
Ramsaywack and Jones were killed a month later during a confrontation with police aback Better Hope, East Coast Demerara.
