Prison officials, whilst conducting checks in and around the Mazaruni Prison and compound yesterday evening, observed a prisoner acting suspiciously.
A search was conducted on his person and in his pants crotch a black bulky parcel containing cannabis leaves, seeds and stems was found.
Further searches were done in the Tuck Shop of the said prison and two black bulky parcels containing a quantity of cannabis leaves, seeds and stems were also found.
The narcotic was weighed in the prisoner’s presence and amounted to 158 grams. The two other parcels were weighed separately and amounted to 252 grams
