Police are investigating a robbery under arms committed last night around 20:10hrs at Friendship, Corentyne Berbice, where a 57-year-old businessman and a 23-year-old woman were robbed by three masked men armed with handguns.
They were relieved of $550,000, one diamond ring valued at US$3000, one iPhone valued at US$1000, 30 registrations for cars, tractors and combines.
Police say that the victims were sitting in their hammocks when three men armed with handguns, wearing black clothing and fully masked, held them at gunpoint and demanded cash and all their valuables.
They took them to the upper flat of the building, tied them up and dealt the businessman a cuff to his left eye, causing injuries.
The three gunmen relieved the victims of the stated articles and made good their escape.
Investigations are ongoing.
