Region Three’s Police Commander, Senior Superintendent Errol Watts says that the crime rate in his jurisdiction continues to remain low. He made this revelation during an interview last evening on the show “Police and You”. He added that murders are also being solved at a rapid pace.

“There is no increase in crime in Region Three, in fact, we have a minus 23 (-23) % in crime in the region. We had a few cases of murder reported to us, and I can tell you that we’ve solved 95% of those murders. Most of those murders are domestic-related and I’m very pleased with the efforts of officers under my command, who are working assiduously to ensure that those few murders that have not been solved, are working on those files collectively as we get the information and legal advice as to the way to go. The crime situation in Region Three is extremely quiet,” the Commander said.

He referred to one incident that took place “in the longest time” in La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, where a resident was robbed by several men.

“That matter is actively being investigated. It’s rather unfortunate, but we are still pursuing that. Before that, we had no serious crime in the Region for the past two or three weeks. We are continuing to work harder to ensure that we keep abreast with what is happening in the region. As the Commander, I can tell you that I am monitoring the situation very carefully,” he said.
