A man and a woman are in custody after police found 847 grammes of cannabis sativa in their Betsy Ground, Canje Berbice home on Wednesday last.
Acting on information, a party of police conducted a search at the mentioned address, where a black bulky plastic bag was discovered under a stairway. It contained a quantity of cannabis leaves, seeds, and stems.
Further searches were carried out in the kitchen and a dark grey bag containing two transparent ziploc bags and three transparent plastic wraps all containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were found under a sink.
They were arrested and taken to the New Amsterdam Police Station. The narcotics amounted to 847 grams.
