The police have arrested a 34-year-old hire car driver and a 16-year-old, who have confessed to robbing an overseas-based Guyanese woman earlier this week at No. 73 Village, Corentyne, Berbice. A third suspect is still being sought.

The 58-year-old overseas-based woman and a 31-year-old male security guard were robbed around 01:20hrs on October 25.

Guyana Standard understands that the man and woman secured their home and went to a wake about 21:00hrs on Sunday in the village. Upon returning at about 00:45hrs, the woman claims she was napping when she was awakened by two men dressed in dark coloured clothing with masks and gloves. One of them pointed a small black gun at her head and demanded her gold chain and two gold finger rings, while the other bandit went into the bedroom.

Thereafter, they ventured downstairs where they were confronted by the second victim who had just driven into the yard. Upon seeing the bandits he ran and left the car with the keys in the ignition.

The two bandits then took the car, PTT 864, and made good their escape with one gold chain valued at $70,000; two gold rings valued at $80,000; one Samsung cellphone valued at $40,000; one Clark’s sneakers valued at $16,000, and one backpack valued $4,000.
