Five men armed with guns and cutlasses invaded the home of a Recht-Door- Zee, West Bank Demerara, family around 20:30hrs last night.
The victims have only been identified as a 56-year-old housewife, a 23-year-old female, and a 20-year-old male.
Enquiries disclosed that the victims were at home when the 20-year-old was outside on his phone.
He then saw two males jumping their western fence. One of the males pulled out a handgun and started to beat the male victim while the other suspect hit him in the face with a suspected handgun, causing him to become unconscious.
The 23-year-old female, who was inside, heard a male voice informing her not to move.
The perpetrator pointed a handgun at her and demanded money. He then dealt her two cuffs to her face, causing her to fall. The said bandit then took away the mentioned cash.
Two other perpetrators with firearms joined the other three and one of them hit the housewife on her right hand with the firearm.
Another perpetrator then pointed a firearm at the victims and demanded cash and jewelry, while the other suspect kept watch at the door. The suspects took the housewife to her room and started to ransack the area before taking possession of one iPhone 7 valued $105,000,
$60,000 cash and one cellphone valued $25,000.
They made their escape by jumping the western fence after which they discharged a round in the air.
Investigations are ongoing.
