Andre Collison, called “DJ Choppy”, 38, of Bartica, Essequibo River succumbed to stab wounds he received during an altercation at Puruni Landing, Middle Mazaruni, around 01:30hrs today.
Guyana Standard understands that Collison left his room in search of food and went to Two Blessed Sisters Restaurant, where he made an order. While waiting to collect same, the suspect went into the said establishment and an argument ensued about monies owed.
The argument became heated and the suspect drew a knife from the waist of his pants and stabbed the victim to his abdomen and thereafter made good his escape.
He was picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Puruni Health post where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
He was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty. His body is being escorted to Bartica Regional Hospital mortuary for storage.
The suspect has not yet been arrested. Investigations are in progress.
