Joseph Ferdinand, called Joshua, 22, a construction worker of Friendship Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara was brutally stabbed yesterday following a misunderstanding.
The incident occurred sometime around 20:35hrs. The male suspect has been arrested and is hospitalised under guard.
Enquiries revealed that the victim and the suspect had a misunderstanding resulting in the suspect arming himself with a knife and dealing the victim two stabs – one to his front upper left chest and one to his lower left side chest, before making good his escape.
The victim was picked up by residents and escorted to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor. His body is presently lying at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The suspect was arrested by police after injuries were observed to his face and body at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he went for treatment. He is being treated under police guard for injuries he received at the hands of public-spirited citizens.
