A Chinese national, who was arrested by the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit following a drug bust at a shipping company, was today charged and remanded.

Xiu Feng Wang went before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennon at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

He was read the charge which alleges that on February 11, 2022, at DHL Express, Lot 50 Fifth Street, Alberttown, Georgetown, he trafficked 8.8 kilograms (19lbs) of cocaine.
He was remanded and the matter was adjourned until March 17, 2022.

The man was expected to appear before the Chief Magistrate on Friday, but there was no Chinese interpreter available at the Court. Two other persons were also charged and their matters, which were read on Friday, was adjourned until March as well.

Following a CANU bust after some suspicions over a package at the shipping company, the man was arrested. He allegedly had a quantity of cocaine at the post office in a package that was destined for China.

The cocaine was found in multiple small packages within a large box that contained juice boxes and biscuit packages.
