The Central Islamic Organization of Guyana (CIOG) on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at the Westminster Secondary School, La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, held a Medical Outreach for the general public.

 

The outreach was supported by the Board of Governors of the West Minister Secondary School and Ms. Devica Hassan in collaboration with The Guyana Cancer Foundation, National Blood Transfusion Services, Dauntless Professional Therapeutic Bodyworks, National Responsible Parenthood Association and West Demerara Covid-19 Vaccination Team and Pharmacy and along with counselling services.

 

The main purpose of the outreach was to provide medical assistance to the community and surrounding areas in general. The residents were able to have their blood pressure and glucose levels tested, access to mental health care, massage therapy, provision of over the counter and prescription medication, Pediatric Care, Gynecological Services, General and Specialty Doctors were on site.

 

The medical team was able to provide assistance to approximately 200 persons inclusive of children, the elderly and those living with disabilities.

 

Along with the medical care provided, the residents present were issued with packages that catered for basic daily necessities; inclusive of Sanitation Products, Face Masks clothing, pampers (Both Children and Adults, hair and skincare products.

 

The CIOG expresses thanks to the Governors and Members of the West Minister Secondary School and to all the collaborating partners.

 

It also expressed gratitude to the team of medical professionals who gave their time and services voluntarily in making this humanitarian effort a successful one.
