Representative of the List for A Partnership for National Unity (APNU)+ Alliance For Change (AFC), David Granger has dispatched a letter to the Chief Elections Officer (CEO), Vishnu Persaud today, seeking the extraction of the names of Aubrey C. Norton and Volda Ann Lawrence to sit as members of the National Assembly.

Granger’s missive was regarded as fake by at least one online news agency, but the former President clarified that the missive is indeed authentic.

Questions arose after attention was placed on Granger’s signature that apparently differed from the one he normally uses. Granger, however, explained that this “electronic signature” is one that he has used since the beginning of the process when communicating with the Chief Elections Officer.

The former People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) Leader says that as the Representative of the List, he has now fulfilled his constitutional duty by submitting the names of candidates to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) for consideration and will now wait for further instructions if any.

Norton, the current Leader of the PNCR, and Lawrence, the ex-PNCR Chairwoman, will replace the former Leader of the Opposition, Joseph Harmon and Nicolette Henry, who served as the Education Minister under the Granger-led government.
