While investigating a mechanical problem with their vehicle, a trio was robbed by two men on a motorcycle on Saturday at North Road, Georgetown, police say. The incident occurred sometime around 21:00hrs.

The victims have been identified as Nicholas Samaroo, a 31-year-old driver of East Street, Georgetown; Mahindra Ramcobeer, a 39-year-old fisherman of Section ‘N’ Cove & John, East Coast Demerara (ECD); and Cindy Persaud, 23, a housewife of East Street, Georgetown.

Investigations revealed that the trio was returning from the Jubilee Fun Park, Timehri, East Bank Demerara, and while in the vicinity of the Guyana Football Club Ground, the bus encountered a mechanical problem.

The victims were in the process of checking to see what the problem was when they were confronted by the suspects.

The pillion rider dismounted the motorcycle, pointed a black handgun in the victims’ direction and demanded that they hand over everything.

Samaroo was relieved of one blue 13 Max PRO iPhone, valued at $340,000 and GYD$92,000. Ramcober was robbed of one black J2 Samsung cellphone, valued at $26,000, while Persaud was relieved of one white I-Phone 11, valued at $200,000, a Guess handbag valued at $10,000, and $20,000 in cash.

The suspects then made good their escape west on North Road, Georgetown.
