Political Commentator and Working Peoples Alliance (WPA) stalwart, Dr David Hinds has taken umbrage to trade unions, that are usually critical of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) government, “breaking bread” with members of the regime on Labour Day.

During his recent “Politics 101” show, the former University professor lambasted the associations, which he described as not “PPP unions” for partaking in a breakfast that was purportedly organised by the government.

According to him, those unions have let down the working class.

“Those Trade Unions really let us down, you know. If you’re saying the government is violating the cherished right of collective bargaining and you’re using Labour Day to send that message, what are you doing going to a political breakfast? It’s a political breakfast. Why are you breaking bread with a government that is trampling on the sacred rights of workers? Those are rights that workers had to fight for – for centuries! And you’re not doing anything drastic to send a message to government, and on Labour Day of all days, the President calls you to a breakfast and you go there and sit,” Dr Hinds said.

He added that only the “PPP unions” should have attended the breakfast.
