Police in Regional Division 4’C’ are investigating the murder of Michael Wilson, a 40-year-old labourer of Lot 109 Sideline Dam, Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara.

He was allegedly killed by his 30-year-old wife of the same address at around 08:15hrs this morning.

Enquiries disclosed that the victim and suspect were common-law partners for the past two years.

According to a police statement, the couple had domestic troubles. The wife would frequently accuse her husband of being unfaithful and he would physically and verbally abuse her.

During an argument yesterday, the woman told her husband she was ending their relationship and would be returning to her parents’ house.

At around 08:00hrs today, the couple was at home when they got into an argument. The wife began packing her belongings to move out of their home.

Wilson, who was armed with a knife, assaulted the suspect and cut her on the left forearm.

The suspect disarmed him and dealt him two stabs to his abdomen. An EMT was summoned, and they arrived at the scene and escorted Wilson to a city hospital in an unconscious state. He subsequently died while receiving treatment.

The suspect was escorted to the Nabacalis Hospital by the police where she was seen by a doctor and was subsequently taken for medical treatment. She remains under police guard.
