A 68-year-old retired manager of Canada, Roma Dookeran, whose body was found in Leguan on March 15, 2023, died as a result of a brain hemorrhage caused by blunt trauma to the head and compression to the neck. This conclusion was had following a post-mortem examination today.

Dookeran’s nephew, Manoj Saree, and niece’s husband, Baishan Lall Kuarlall, positively identified the body to be that of their missing aunt. Saree stated that he dropped Dookeran off at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) to catch a flight on American Airlines back to Canada on March 14 at around 10:45 pm. After she failed to arrive home, her family decided to make checks at the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour since the body recovered bore a resemblance to their missing aunt.

The post-mortem was conducted at the Ezekiel Funeral Home at Best Village, West Coast Demerara, around 10:35 am in the presence of Dr. Nehal Singh, the government pathologist, and Police Corporal Reece. The body was identified by Dookeran’s son, Kevin Dookeran, and handed over to the family for funeral arrangements.

The investigation into the death of Roma Dookeran is currently ongoing.
