Guyana Deepwater Operations (GDO), a subsidiary of SBM Offshore, has issued two Requests for Information (RFIs) seeking logistics services as well as residential housing and apartment buildings for its trainers and trainees.
In the RFI for logistics services, the subsidiary noted that it is seeking companies that can provide services such as international freight forwarding, customs brokerage, local trucking, and warehousing services. It also made it clear that following the passage of the Local Content Act 2021, it is committed to establishing partnerships with Guyanese companies and will prioritize them over non-Guyanese companies when considering bidders.
While noting that it is dedicated to delivering products and services of the highest standards, GDO affirmed that when bidding, interested companies will need to demonstrate their involvement in the Guyanese community and sustainability projects or development in Guyana.
Further, under the RFI for housing and apartments, the company stated that it is aiming to provide safe, stable, and consistent rental housing for trainers and trainees within the vicinity of Nigg to Rosehall/Port Mourant to Bushlot on the Corentyne and Main Street to Republic Road, New Amsterdam, Guyana. However, it noted that the RFI is not limited to these areas, as the company intends to provide residential houses and apartment buildings with two and/or three-bedroom single occupancy under the defined scope in the RFI for some forty individuals.
It’s worth noting that Guyana Deepwater Operations is a subsidiary of SBM Offshore, a leading provider of floating production solutions to the offshore energy industry. SBM has already secured contracts for four of Guyana’s floating production and offloading (FPSO) vessels and is currently the market leader in leased floating production systems. While the Liza 1 and Liza 2 FPSOs are already being used for production, the Payara FPSO is currently en route to Guyana.
Moreover, the construction of the fourth FPSO, known as the ONE GUYANA, is currently underway in Singapore.
