The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said it is investigating an incident involving members of two political parties that occurred today during a Nomination Day process at a Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) office in Number 8 Village, West Coast Berbice.

It is alleged that members of a political party became disruptive and attempted to prevent persons from another political party from entering the premises to submit their nomination list. The GPF said it is probing the incident and persons found to be in breach of elections offences will be prosecuted.

The force has not revealed the names of the two parties, nor the identities of the individuals involved.

This is a developing story.
