Two top tier ExxonMobil contractors, Haliburton and Noble Drilling, are seeking Guyanese support services for waste management and catering offshore respectively.

Haliburton, a prominent industry leader providing services to Guyana’s flourishing oil and gas sector, is actively seeking waste management service providers to support its local operations. In a recently published Expression of Interest (EOI), the company emphasized the need for managing both hazardous and non-hazardous waste. The comprehensive range of services sought encompasses various aspects such as efficient management, treatment, decontamination, reception, storage, pre-treatment, recycling, recovery or transformation, co-processing, and incineration of waste materials, irrespective of their hazardous nature.

Haliburton, an esteemed American multinational corporation renowned for its extensive hydraulic fracturing operations worldwide, maintains a significant presence in over 70 countries.

In a similar vein, Noble Drilling, operating one of the most advanced and modern offshore drilling fleets, has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking a contractor capable of providing a comprehensive catering and accommodation service for a duration of 24 months. The contractor must be equipped to supply a qualified and proficient catering crew on a rotational basis, catering specifically to the demands of an offshore work site. Key positions required for this endeavor include a competent camp boss, skilled chef, proficient cooks, and a chief steward.

It is worth noting that the First Schedule of Guyana’s Local Content Act meticulously outlines 40 sectors and sub-sectors that prioritize the involvement of Guyanese businesses, including the catering domain. Contractors, sub-contractors, and licensees operating within Guyana are legally obligated to source 90% of their catering services from local Guyanese enterprises. Additionally, these entities are required to procure at least 75% of their food supplies from Guyanese businesses, ensuring a robust contribution to the local economy.
