Police are probing a murder committed on Zehron Nieuenkirk, a bus driver of 95 West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, Georgetown.

The 37-year-old was killed last Thursday at about 21:00hrs at the Linden bus park, Water and Hadfield Streets, Georgetown.

According to a 23-year-old Construction worker, on the date and time mentioned, he was sitting on the avenue on the eastern fence of Parliament Building when he saw Nieuenkirk come from a northern direction. The man told cops that he and Nieuenkirk began conversing before a woman approached them.

The eyewitness told investigators that Nieuenkirk proceeded to ‘pinch’ the woman on her left hand. The woman knocked away Nieuenkirk’s hand and pulled a knife from her waist.

The victim then told the suspect that what she pulled out, she could not use it on him. The suspect then turned to walk away when Nieuenkirk hugged and lifted her from behind jokingly.

The eyewitness said he heard the victim make a sound and told the suspect: “This is what you done to me girl.” The victim then pulled down his pants and showed him a wound to his right side groin area, which was bleeding and told him that the suspect had inflicted it on him.

The female suspect (known as Vanessa) then ran away in a southern direction towards the Linden bus park with the knife in her hand and escaped.

The victim was placed in a minibus and transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted as a patient. At 23:30 hrs that night, the victim succumbed to his injuries.

The body is currently lying at the GPHC Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination. Efforts so far to locate the suspect have been without success. Investigations continue.
