A Guyanese family from Canada is set to launch their latest endeavor, the ‘Timehri Sands Golf & Country Club (G&CC)’. This much-anticipated project is slated to start in January 2024, aiming to enrich the golfing landscape in Guyana by introducing a contemporary nine-hole golf course coupled with a state-of-the-art golf practice facility.

Earlier today, the lease for this project was officially signed at the Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission.

The brainchild of Christopher and Hess DaSilva, this establishment will be strategically situated near the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA). The DaSilva duo expressed that its prime location would not only cater to local golf enthusiasts but would also be conveniently accessible for international visitors. Furthermore, this venture presents a chance to expose new segments of the Guyanese populace to the sport of golf.

The DaSilvas elaborated on their vision, noting that the golf course will be constructed on a firm sand-based terrain, perfect for the sport. This design will accentuate traditional golfing elements, with rolling landscapes and varied terrain. Each hole will feature three separate tee decks, catering to golfers of all skill levels and offering them opportunities to hone and challenge their skills.

The emphasis, the DaSilvas highlighted, is on creating a fun yet strategic golfing experience filled with engaging challenges. To complement this, the Golf Practice Facilities will come equipped with a Golf Range, Putting Green, and Chipping Zone, facilitating both learning and practice. The entire setting promises captivating scenic vistas set against the backdrop of a classic heathland-style golf course. Timehri Sands G&CC aspires to become a premier golfing hub, enhancing the experience for all golf enthusiasts and creating new pathways in the Guyanese community. (Modified from DPI)
