Police are actively investigating a shooting incident that occurred around 21:30 hrs on Friday night at Water Street, Georgetown. The victim has been identified as Joseph Singh, a 64-year-old laborer with no fixed place of abode.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Singh was walking north on Water Street near Muneshwers Limited when he noticed a grey Pitbull bus with a ‘Trade Plate’ carrying two unidentified males. One of the occupants reportedly fired several shots in Singh’s direction before the bus sped off northwards.

Singh sustained a gunshot wound to his hand. He sought medical treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he has since been admitted.

Police officers responding to the scene did not recover any spent shell casings. However, several CCTV cameras are positioned in the vicinity, and detectives will be reviewing the footage as part of their ongoing investigation into the incident.
