The Government of Guyana has launched its automated audit into the issuance of driver’s licenses, with more than 1,600 target letters already dispatched to individuals under scrutiny.

President Irfaan Ali announced the update for the crackdown during a press conference today, revealing that the Traffic Chief Mahendra Singh has issued just over 1,600 letters to persons of interest, demanding verification of how they acquired their licenses.

“The system is already delivering these results for us,” President Ali stated, noting that the new infrastructure allows for seamless, automated post-audits to catch irregularities.

In a bid to permanently dismantle corruption and cheating within the testing process, the President announced that the official driver’s license examination is being migrated entirely to the Guyana Digital School platform.

Under the new digitized system, exam questions will be automatically generated using random sampling, ensuring that no two test-takers receive the same evaluation.

“Nobody would have any question paper two days before,” President Ali emphasized. “If you go now to write it, 10 minutes after, the questions are completely different.”
The digital platform will also grade the examinations instantly, providing applicants with their results immediately upon completion.
