Registrar of the Supreme Court, Sueanna Lovell today continued her testimony in the ongoing 2020 Election Fraud Trial before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty, as all original Statements of Polls (SOPs) from Districts One to Ten were tendered into evidence at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
During the morning’s session, Lovell presented the original SOPs to the court, with the documents being marked and admitted as part of the prosecution’s evidence in the matter.
The court was previously told the election documents had remained in her custody pursuant to an order issued by then Chief Justice Roxane George, SC. The court heard that the SOPs had been securely held in safes following judicial directions, with the Registrar responsible for maintaining possession of the records.
The SOPs are viewed as significant pieces of evidence in the case, as they contain the vote counts recorded at polling stations during the 2020 elections. The prosecution has relied heavily on documentary material as it seeks to advance its case against the accused.
When the proceedings resumed after the lunch adjournment, Lovell began presenting the Statements of Recount (SORs) to the court. However, she was unable to complete all ten electoral districts before the matter was adjourned.
The trial is expected to continue on June 15.
Several individuals remain before the court in connection with the March 2020 General and Regional Elections, including former Region Four Returning Officer Clairmont Mingo, former Chief Elections Officer Keith Lowenfield, and former Deputy Chief Elections Officer Roxanne Myers.
Also charged are former PNCR Chairperson Volda Lawrence, PNCR activist Carol Smith-Joseph, along with GECOM staff members Enrique Livan, Michelle Miller, Sheffern February, and Denise Babb-Cummings.
The charges stem from investigations into alleged attempts to manipulate the results of the March 2020 General and Regional Elections. In total, the accused face 19 conspiracy charges.
