The programme was launched last Tuesday as part of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport’s efforts to expand access to structured youth development initiatives, particularly in hinterland communities.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Charles Ramson Jr provided an overview of the programme, highlighting its focus on skills development, community service, physical training and the adventurous Journey.
Participants will progress through bronze, silver and gold levels as they develop their abilities and take part in the expedition experience.
The programme will also offer young people opportunities to participate in sports and recreational activities, including cricket, football, swimming, archery and volleyball.
The activities are designed to promote teamwork, discipline, physical fitness, leadership and personal development.
A key feature of the launch was the identification of unit leaders, coaches and facilitators from within the St Cuthbert’s Mission community.
They will work alongside the ministry to implement and guide the programme locally. (Department of Public Information)
