Three companies, both local and international have submitted bids for the salvaging of the MV Barima wreck.
The National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) opened the bids on Tuesday. Industrial Fabrication Inc. submitted a bid of $1.895 billion, B.K. International submitted $1.034 billion, and KMS B.V. of the Netherlands submitted $2.0351 billion.
The bid security amount for Industrial Fabrication Inc. is $28.5 million, while B.K international is $15.6 million and KMS B.V. of the Netherlands is $135, 691 USD.
The companies submitted the bids for the salvaging the wreck on a “no cure no pay basis”
The MV Barima sank off Castle Flats, Essequibo on July 18 and over 100 passengers died. Approximately 179 passengers were onboard, with a total of 77 persons being rescued, 72 bodies were recovered and several others remain missing.
