Police are investigating an alleged Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm committed on a 14-year-old male of West Bank Demerara, allegedly by his 36-year-old father, a Police Inspector.

Preliminary investigations revealed that during October 2026, the suspect allegedly threw a hammer at the teenager, striking him on his left ankle and causing injuries after he reportedly misplaced a key.

Further enquiries disclosed that on Wednesday October 28, 2026, about 07:30hrs, the suspect allegedly became angry after the teenager failed to complete his household chores. The matter was subsequently reported to the Childcare and Protection Agency and an investigation was launched.

The teenager was interviewed by the relevant authorities and subsequently taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor.

Police ranks later visited the location as part of the investigation.

The Police Inspector was placed under close arrest on Wednesday October 28, 2026, pending investigation.

Investigations are ongoing.
