Four men are now in police custody following a Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) operation where ranks uncovered a quantity of marijuana in a wooden vessel and a taxi at Hope/Nootenzuil Lowlands, East Coast Demerara.

CANU said that this happened on Saturday last.

“During the early morning hours of Saturday 28th July, 2018 CANU Ranks conducted an operation on the East Coast of Demerara where a wooden vessel and a taxi both carrying bulky bags of suspected marijuana was eventually interdicted,” CANU stated.

Some 116.2 kilograms of substance suspected to be marijuana, was found.

Those arrested were Jason Dhanpat, Inderjeet Beepat, Jermain Hikel and Teairre Ackeem Cush.
