Even as policy leaders of the day continue to trash out issues related to elections, the Department of Energy, the Guyana Office for Investment (Go-Invest) and Valiant Business Media, are moving ahead with plans to host the second edition of the Guyana International Petroleum Business Summit and Exhibition (GIPEX) from November 20 to 22 at the Marriott Hotel.

This news agency understands that the theme for the event is Guyana: At the epicenter of energy.  

The organizers noted that GIPEX 2019 is expected to feature a number of high-profile speakers led by President David Granger who recently issued a proclamation for elections to be held on March 2, 2020. The full list of speakers for the event has not been released as yet.

Nonetheless, the Guyana Standard understands that the invited industry analysts are expected to outline why Guyana is the investment opportunity of choice, discuss the significance of the Liza discovery on new exploration programmes and ways Guyana can increase and optimize its oil and gas industry, define the crucial steps and roles of the petroleum sector to ensure the efficient development of Guyana, and discuss the development of offshore engineering and technology in Guyana. Attention would also be given to the significance of emerging and or innovative technologies for Guyana’s oil and gas industry while keeping in focus, innovations in renewable energy, energy efficiency and low emissions technology.

Environmental hazards and risk assessment in the oil and gas industry along with the empowerment of local inclusivity will also be addressed.
