Months after coming out of prison, a repeat offender was today sentenced to nine months in jail for breaking into a church.

Forty-year-old Paul Ramsaywack pleaded guilty with an explanation to the charge which stated that between November 11 and November 12, 2019, at Waterloo Street, Georgetown, he broke and entered the Christ Church place of divine worship with intent to commit a felony.

Ramsaywack, in his explanation, stated, “I didn’t get to thief anything. See with meh because it won’t happen again.”

He appeared before Senior Magistrate Dylon Bess in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Facts presented by police prosecutor Christopher Morris stated that on November 11, the priest secured the church and went home.

The court heard that the following day when the priest arrived at the church, he noticed one of the windows was opened and a bag was at the front door.

However, when he opened the door, the defendant began screaming and he ran out of the compound.

Further checks were made in the building and a bag containing several fans was near the door.

The matter was reported and following an investigation, the police were able to arrest the defendant.

Prosecutor Morris told the court that the defendant was recently released from prison after being sentenced to 24 months behind bars for a similar offence.

The Magistrate, after listening to the facts, imposed the custodial sentenced on Ramsaywack.
