The two men who allegedly brutally attacked and murdered a young father of one, were today charged and remanded for offence.
Twenty-two-year-old Winston Long, a farmer and Jermey Small, 19, a labourer, both of Timehri Base Road, EBD, were jointly charged with murder committed on Lawrence Benjamin.
The men were not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on April 12,2020, at Timehri, East Bank Demerara, they murdered Benjamin.
The men appeared at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court before His Worship Mr. Sunil Scarce and were remanded to prison.
They were instructed to make their next court appearance on May 27 for statements.
According to information, Benjamin, 24, was stabbed three times—once to the neck and twice to the chest during an argument with the defendants around 09:45hrs on Sunday. It is unclear what led to the argument.
