A man who is accused of setting fire to two government properties located on the Essequibo Coast, was yesterday charged for the offenses.

Twenty-four-year-old Keyon Davis, an excavator operator, of Hibernia village on the Essequibo Coast, appeared before Magistrate Esther Sam at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court where he was slapped with two charges.

The charges stated that on July 14, 2020, he set fire to the government army building located at Maria’s Lodge and to the Criminal Investigation Department Office (CID) department located at the Anna Regina Police station.

He was not required to plead to the charges and was released on $400,000 bail. Condition of the bail is that he reports to the Suddie Magistrate’s Court every Monday until the hearing and determination of the trial. The matter was adjourned to August 5, 2020.
