Guyana would have recorded 59 new cases of the Coronavirus Disease in just four days, says the country’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr  Shamdeo Persaud.

“Over the period 10-14 August, 59 new cases were reported; these cases came from Regions 9, Four, Seven and the Riversview area of Region 10,” he said during his update to the nation this afternoon.

Meanwhile, he noted that the number of positive cases has climbed to 649, with 22 COVID related deaths. There are 104 person in Institutional Isolation, 73 in institutional quarantine and six in COVID Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

To date, 306 persons have recovered as defined by the new WHO guidelines for releasing COVID-19 patients from isolation

The total number of tests done is 6,695.
