Daquan Wills of Lot 141 Meadow Brook Drive, and Joel Fung-A-Fat, 39, of Lot 342 Foreshaw Street Georgetown were arraigned before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts today and were granted bail after being charged with possession of narcotics.

It is alleged that the two, on April 20, between Stone Avenue Campbellville and Church Street and Vlissengen Road, Georgetown, trafficked 1.054 kilograms of cocaine. The said narcotic was intercepted at Church and Vlissengen Road.

Following not guilty pleas they were released on $300,000 bail each. Wills was represented by attorney-at-law, Sion Dhurjon while Fung-A-Fat was represented by attorney-at-law Mark Waldron.

Guyana Standard understands that Wills and Fung-A-Fat were traveling in motor car PVV 6706 when they were intercepted by CANU ranks who were conducting an operation and had the vehicle under surveillance.

CANU said that when ranks attempted to stop the said vehicle, it sped away. The ranks gave chase and intercepted the vehicle at Lance Gibbs Street and Vlissengen Road, Georgetown.

During the chase, a brick of suspected cocaine was thrown from the vehicle. Same was retrieved by CANU Ranks. Additionally, as a result of the interception of the two suspects, CANU conducted a search in Stone Avenue Campbellville and was able to find another brick of suspected cocaine and a bag containing bulky parcels of suspected cannabis in the yard of a range house.
