Police are investigating a robbery that took place yesterday at Friendship, East Bank Demerara by three unidentified men who stormed the establishment waving handguns.

The victims have only been identified by police as a 52-year-old businessman, his 25-year-old colleague, and a male security guard.

Investigations revealed that shortly after 07:20hrs, the first victim opened his place of business, Ri Ri Supermarket, and shortly after while standing at the cashier register, he observed three males walking into the supermarket. The men proceeded to hit the unarmed security guard to the back of his head.

The perpetrators then bounded the security guard and the businessman with black plastic straps and placed them on the floor.

The first mentioned victim received injuries to his head.

One of the perpetrators guarded the bounded men, while the other two traveled upstairs and relieved the second victim of his cellphone and ransacked a bedroom before removing two DVRs.

They bounded the third victim and made good their escape in an unknown direction.

A female employee went to work and observed the bounded men on the floor and untied them.

The robbers carted off approximately $660,000, a quantity of Digicel phone cards valued at $120,000, and three phones.
