24-year-old Seyon James called ‘Lil Alfey’ a Fish Vendor, and 34-year-old Kenty Bacchus called ‘Trini’ of lot 12 Water Street, Kingston, Georgetown, were today charged with the murder of Kenrick Trim, the taxi-driver who was found dead at Ogle.
The two accused were brought before Magistrate Roschelle Liverpool at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court and were remanded until August 6, 2021 after being read the indictable charge.
It is alleged they murdered the 53-year-old taxi driver of Belfield Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara (ECD) who’s body was found on June 30, 2021. at Cul-de-sac Street Block 1, Ogle on the ECD.
According to the Police, Trim, who had left home at 07:30hrs on the day he was discovered dead, was found lying motionless at 09:00hrs, in the grass. The police had stated that his body was dumped by a silver-grey Toyota Premio car bearing license plate number HC5311, which was parked some short distance away from the man’s body.
Upon making the discovery, the man’s body was positively identified, by his son Kenrick Odell Trim, who told police that his father’s gold chain and ring were missing.
The body was later escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), and Trim was pronounced dead on arrival, by a doctor on duty.
This publication previously reported that the two accused were arrested just two days after the man’s body was found and they were taken to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters at Eve Leary where investigators interrogated them after Bacchus was found in possession of Trim’s cell phone.
It was also reported that CID ranks interrogated James and he confessed to being involved in the deadly crime. The man reportedly told investigators that he and Bacchus connected while he was serving time in prison for simple larceny.
He further said that, Bacchus had picked him up on the date, at the bus park and they had a brief conversation at a snackette about his financial situation. Afterward, James said that Bacchus stopped a taxi which the now dead man was driving at the time, and they both entered the vehicle.
He said that he sat behind the front passenger’s seat and Bacchus sat behind the taxi driver’s seat. Investigators were told that they then went to Ogle on the ECD, and it was then that Bacchus grabbed Trim by his neck and choked him until he passed out.
He further stated that Bacchus pulled the man over to the back seat, but the man was still moving. Bacchus subsequently pulled out a knife he had in his possession and began stabbing the driver about his body before he removed the man’s gold ring and chain, along with a quantity of cash he had in his pocket, and a black Samsung phone. Bacchus then drove the car to a spot in Ogle where he dumped Trim’s body, after which he had attempted to reverse the car, but it was stuck in mud and they both exited the vehicle.
James said that Bacchus gave him $10,000, and he disposed of the knife which he had used to stab the driver in the nearby bushes. He said they then crossed over a bridge and walked until they reached the public road. The two men then boarded a minibus and headed back to Georgetown.
