Two ex-employees of Gafsons Industries Limited were charged for stealing AC units from the company and forgery.

25-year-old Komolram Persaud, a bus driver of Lot 471 Section ‘C’, Block ‘Y’, Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara, and 29-year-old Robin Singh, unemployed of Lot 129 D Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, were this afternoon released $150,000 bail, each when they were arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. They are jointly charged with larceny of clerk or Servant and forgery with intent to defraud.

It is alleged that between January 1, 2021, and January 31, 2021, at McDoom, while being employees of Gafsons Industries Limited, they stole two air conditioning units valued at $273,186.18, property of Gafsons Industries Limited.

It is also alleged that during that period, with intent to defraud, they conspired with each other to forge a document claiming to be from Gafsons Industries Limited.

The duo entered not guilty pleas for each charge and was granted bail in the sum of $150,000 each. They were advised to return to court on August 11.
