Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred around 20:50hrs last night at Drill Old Road, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.
According to the police, the accident involved motorcycle CK 8330, driven by Kevin Peters (deceased), 23, of Supply, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, and pillion rider Kevin Ashley, age 20, of Helena # 1 Mahaica, East Coast Demerara.
Ashley told police that Peters was proceeding west along the southern drive lane of Drill Old Road, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara at a fast rate.
While negotiating a right turn, Peters reportedly lost control of the motorcycle and ended up in a nearby trench on the western side of the road.
As a result, both Peters and Ashley received injuries about their bodies.
They were assisted out of the trench by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Mahaicony Public Hospital.
Peters was said to be in an unconscious state when he arrived at the hospital. They were both admitted patients.
While being treated, Peters succumbed.
Further investigations are underway.
