Guyana Standard has been informed that a cop will soon be hauled before the court for allegedly ordering junior ranks to follow Opposition Leader, Aubrey Norton last month.

Legal advice was today provided to the Commissioner of Police, Clifton Hicken (ag) and the Crime Chief, Wendell Blanhum for charges to be instituted against Superintendent Alistair Roberts.

He will be charged with the offence of “acting in a manner likely to bring discredit on the reputation of the Force, contrary to Section 4(d) (vii) of the Police (Discipline) Act, Chapter 17:01″.

On June 13, last, Norton was returning from the home of Quindon Bacchus who was shot dead by police when he confronted two masked ranks on motorcycles who were allegedly following his vehicle.

In the video, Norton is seen and heard questioning the cops about their reasons for trailing him, to which one responded, “Sir, Sir we are just following instructions”.
