Subsea 7, the company overseeing pipeline installation for the Wales Gas-to-Energy initiative, is inviting businesses to indicate their interest in offering a variety of services tied to the project. In its recently issued Expression of Interest (EOI), the company highlighted a spectrum of supply and service categories open for consideration.

These encompass personal protective equipment (PPE), welding, fitting, and steel fabrication – including plate cutting. The scope extends to rigging inspection, and the provision of welding gases like argon and mixed welding gases (a blend of 75% argon and 25% CO2). Containers such as half heights, reefers, 20ft and 40ft closed/open top containers, along with sludge tanks, are also among the requirements. Additionally, the project necessitates rigging items like wire ropes and soft slings, along with consumables such as office supplies, spray paint, duck tape, and small tools.

In addition, Subsea 7 is also seeking providers of pipe stacking, pipe lifting rigging and pipe cleaning services, and gauging tools, and pipe cutting tools.

Subsea 7, since its establishment in 2002, has been a significant player in subsea engineering, construction, and services in the offshore energy sector. In a notable collaboration, Subsea 7, in conjunction with Royal Van Oord, secured a substantial pipe-laying contract from Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited (EEPGL), a local affiliate of ExxonMobil.

Central to this project is the installation of approximately 190 kilometers of pipeline, slated for completion by 2024. The initiative entails constructing and operating a pipeline from the Liza Phase 1 and Liza Phase 2 floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessels to an onshore natural gas liquids processing plant. Additionally, the project encompasses the creation of a 225 km 12” pipeline, designed to transport a guaranteed minimum of 50 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) of natural gas from offshore Guyana to the Wales Development Authority.

Subsea 7 said that the success of this undertaking hinges on a premier fleet, and it prides itself on the factthat it operates one of the industry’s most advanced and contemporary fleets, fully equipped to support the installation and deployment of their innovative enabling products.
