ExxonMobil Guyana Limited (EMGL), the operator of the Stabroek block offshore Guyana, recently issued a Request for Information (RFI) in search of a supplier for drone services.

EMGL’s primary objective is to secure a contractor with the capability to capture high-resolution aerial video and photographs of the 25-kilometer onshore pipeline. This critical infrastructure is a key component of the gas-to-energy project, an offshore/onshore development near Georgetown, designed to deliver gas from existing offshore sources to an onshore integrated Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) and Power Plant that will be situated at Wales, West Bank Demerara.

Overall, the gas-to-energy initiative involves the operation of a 10-inch/12-inch pipeline from the Destiny vessel (at the Liza Phase One Project) and Unity vessel ( at the Liza Phase Two Project) FPSO to an onshore integrated plant. This pipeline is set to transport a maximum of 60 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of rich gas to the integrated plant. The onshore pipeline, spanning approximately 25 kilometers with a minimum depth of cover at 1.22 meters, incorporates a fiber optic cable system for pipeline leak detection and intrusion detection.

Key components of the onshore pipeline scope include the shore crossing valve site, buried pipeline, and the receiving facility.

EMGL’s RFI specifies a range of requirements for suppliers, encompassing capabilities such as flying drones beyond visual line of sight, using a variety of payload sensors, including RGB, Infrared, Multi-spectral, and Lidar.

Additionally, the RFI emphasizes the importance of compliance with local content requirements, which includes the possession of a local content certificate and a local content strategy that must be submitted to the company. This underlines Exxon’s commitment to building workforce and supplier capabilities within the community.

The company has noted that all documents are required to be submitted no later than 5:00 PM, January 12, 2024 and was keen to note that no extensions will be granted.
