Another young man has been murdered.

Twenty six-year-old Seon Harry met his demise around 09:00 hrs this morning at the hands of his 31-year-old friend at South Sophia, Georgetown.

Harry of Block ‘E’ South Sophia was stabbed several times about his body. He died before he could have received medical attention.

The suspect, who was reportedly chopped by the deceased, is currently receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) while under police guard.

The Guyana Standard has been informed that the suspect told police ranks that he stabbed the deceased in self-defense.

According to information received, the deceased borrowed the suspect’s bicycle yesterday and returned it until midnight. This was in spite of the fact that he promised to return the cycle within two hours. This reportedly led to an argument which was eventually resolved.

This morning however, the police said that the deceased, whilst arm with a cutlass, met the suspect on a dam and dealt him several chops about the body. In retaliation, the suspect pulled out a knife and fatally stabbed Harry, his alleged attacker.

This news agency was told that the 26-year-old man fell to the ground and died shortly after while the suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment. He has since confessed to ranks.

Investigations are ongoing.
